1999 BMW Z3: Stop the buzzing bass and why does it sound bad at full volume?

This BMW came to us initially because of a buzzing noise from the bass speaker. You can see the problem from the photos. Of course, the dealer will only sell you the entire part. We searched around and tried a few parts and were able to come up with a solution for the owner for less, including our labor.

As usual, we check over everything when we are about to do work on a vehicle and this time found that the existing audio system installation was not done correctly. We alerted the owner to this and resolved it such that it would not cause further damage to the audio system components.
