- Comments Off on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette: The other shop kept changing things and it wasn’t better
This customer came to us from another shop because the radio reception was not so great after changing the radio. We did some initial diagnosis and found quite a bit of extra equipment and wiring that was not needed. When we showed it to him, he was surprised because he supposedly paid the other shop to remove all the equipment we removed.
Photos are “before”. You can see a before and after here.
After removing the equipment and revising the wiring, he got the improvements he was looking for. We saw this customer again a few weeks later to do some work in his other vehicle…

- Comments Off on 2005 Nissan Pathfinder: Why is my radio reception bad?
This customer recently purchased their vehicle and could not understand why the radio would randomly lose reception. After a quick diagnosis, we found a poor installation that didn’t take into account that the vehicle’s safety structure was interfering with the radio’s wiring.
We removed the poor quality gear and replaced them with our higher quality supplies. Our professional installation was all it took to get the radio tuning into FM consistently and got the vehicle sounding great.

- Comments Off on 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD: Fixing a backup camera installation gone very bad
This customer’s family (father and son) have been coming to us for many years. In this case, we were helping them with the backup camera installation that came with the truck when they purchased it.
Whoever installed it cut the usual corners and it was a double whammy because not only was the backup camera damaged because of the poor quality of work but so was the vehicle’s data module from the shorted out wires.
We were able to work around the two failures and installed a new backup camera (with a longer warranty) which they hopefully won’t need because the installation was done correctly this time!

- Comments Off on 1999 BMW Z3: Stop the buzzing bass and why does it sound bad at full volume?
This BMW came to us initially because of a buzzing noise from the bass speaker. You can see the problem from the photos. Of course, the dealer will only sell you the entire part. We searched around and tried a few parts and were able to come up with a solution for the owner for less, including our labor.
As usual, we check over everything when we are about to do work on a vehicle and this time found that the existing audio system installation was not done correctly. We alerted the owner to this and resolved it such that it would not cause further damage to the audio system components.
