What was supposed to be a BMW Certified Pre-Owned car slipped past the BMW mechanics that checked this very special 135i over (it has a Dual Clutch Transmission for you gear heads and not a common option for these cars). Their inspection neglected to reveal a very obviously placed aftermarket amplifier with very sketchy wiring installation which was apparently done by the previous owner.
The new owner came to us because of lack of audio. It turned out that the aftermarket amplifier was no longer functional and warranty/repair was not an option. We temporarily wired the car back to factory to get him going for the day and put together a plan to correctly implement the audio improvements that needed to be made. We decided that a modest 5 channel amplifier and proper automotive grade wiring would do the trick along with appropriate OEM integration pieces for the scope of his project. We also found that the high-end replacement tweeters were marginal and replaced them with new ones so that high frequency sounds could again be heard. All of the new equipment works perfectly with the factory BMW iDrive system but it now sounds MUCH better than factory.
