Job Description
This referral from a prior customer stopped by with his beautiful motorcycle and needed some help with a non-functional radio. It had been months since it had worked and he was headed out of town with his motorcycle club for a motorcycle rally in Florida and wanted to have music for the trip down. He figured the original motorcycle radio had some minor wiring issue and that was why it wasn’t working. He left us the motorcycle to troubleshoot early in the afternoon. We found the radio was bad (it had a refurbished unit tag on it) and we had to quickly come up with a plan so he could make his trip in time.
We decided together that upgrading all the speakers (since they were original) as well as the receiver (opting to not retain the factory intercom functions) would meet all of his needs and that adding an amplifier for the speakers would also be a wise decision. Retaining the factory hand/thumb controls was also desired. We quickly came up with a parts list and made the order cut-off just in time to have the parts expedited to us the next morning so we could finish the build the next day.
We staged as much of the job as possible that evening so we could quickly complete the rest of the work the following day, once the necessary parts arrived. We managed to get everything done the following morning, had the audio system tuned, and fully tested the hand/thumb controls. The project was ready for delivery that afternoon and the owner got it back just in time to ride in style to the event in Florida with his music streaming wirelessly via Bluetooth from his smartphone.
